Sussex Weald Homes Ltd planned a residential development of 33 new homes, including affordable housing, on land west of Five Ash Down Road in Coopers Green, Uckfield. The development was built by Greymoor Construction in conjunction with Sussex Weald Homes.
To address the change in ground levels and retain the rear gardens of the new properties, Greymoor appointed Tailor Engineering to design an approximately 80-metre-long retaining wall, reaching around two metres at its maximum height.
A composite crib wall operating as a gravity-retaining system was considered the most suitable solution because of the site’s limited footprint and durability performances.
