Greymoor Homes was appointed by the Rother District Council (RDC) Housing Company to build new, energy-efficient homes on the former Blackfriars site, with construction started in early 2025 and scheduled for completion by summer 2027, aiming to provide affordable housing. The development will be the largest rural town housing project delivered within the Rother district in over ten years.
Tailor Engineering have been appointed by Greymoor , after assisting Breheny with the specialist element design for the road embankments (see the case study). Greymoor took over from Breheny Civil Engineering, which delivered the enabling and infrastructure works between 2023/2024.
Tailor’ scope of work included the specialist element design for 18 walls using different techniques such as crib walls, hybrid reinforced walls and earth anchored structures with narrow footprint, traditional reinforced soil slopes with granular as well as reinforced soil slopes using drainage-reinforcing composite combined with Class 2 site won fill.
Hulk anchors were also used in combination with a crib wall to reduce the amount of excavation.
